Access to Student Records and Behaviour Notes
At Asker International School, we are committed to transparency and collaboration with families while also ensuring that teachers have the professional space to record observations and support student learning.
What parents can access
Parents/guardians have the right, under GDPR and Norwegian Education Law, to access their child’s official school records. This includes academic reports, attendance records, and behaviour records upon request.
Parents will always be informed directly by staff about significant incidents or concerns that affect their child’s learning, wellbeing, or safety.
How behaviour notes are managed
Teachers may record behaviour notes in our internal systems (e.g., ManageBac) as part of their professional practice.
These notes are primarily working documents for teachers and school leaders to monitor student progress, identify patterns, and plan support.
Behaviour notes are not automatically shared with parents in real time.
Parental requests
Parents may request access to their child’s behaviour notes or records at any time.
The school will provide this information in a clear and appropriate format, ensuring that no confidential information about other students or staff is disclosed.
Why this approach
This policy allows teachers to record accurate and honest observations, while still ensuring parents are fully informed when matters arise that require their involvement. It balances professional confidentiality with the rights of parents to access information about their child.
